Route description: 35 km introductory
cycle ride, great to familiarize with riding in Holland, your cycling
equipment and GPS device. Cycle mainly along the dike in North direction.
Safe, scenic and easy ride visiting old villages as Uitdam, Monnickendam
A visit to Marken island can be added to this route (10 km).
- Cycle to Haarlem (~65 km). Stay in
Route description: Mix of country and sub-urban cycle paths. Visit Edam,
Schans and it’s windmills, take ferry across “Het Ij”,
and continue to Bloemendaal. Extra 10 km through the dunes can be added
to this route.
- Cycle to Leiden. Stay in Nieuw
a) (~45 km) Leave Bloemendaal in West
direction to the coast, cross the National Park Kennemerduinen, visit
and continue along the coast to Noordwijk aan Zee, visit Katwijk and
ride further to Leiden.
This route is recommended for sea lovers and in the summer time.
b) (~50 km) Leave Bloemendaal in South
direction through country paths to the Keukenhof
Gardens. Continue on country roads about colorful tulip fields to
Noordwijk aan Zee and on to Leiden.
This “flowers” route is a must in late winter and spring
- Cycle to Delft (~45 km). Stay in De
From Leiden back to the North Sea and on to The
Hague. Lovely green route along coastal and city parks. Then sub-urban
cycle roads to the picturesque village of Delft.
Perfect place to have a resting day.
- Cycle to Gouda (~60 km). Stay at Best
Leave Delft towards Rotterdam, cross the centre and take modern tall
bridges to cross the “Maas”river. Continue along industrial
area paths to Kinderdijk
Mills and through the country to Gouda.
- Cycle to Utrecht (~50 km). Stay at
Beautiful country road following waterways through Woerden and then
to the centre of Utrecht.
- Cycle to Amsterdam (~50 km).
- Bikes collection in the evening.
Route description: Leave the centre in North-West direction to Maarssen.
Continue along the “Vecht
River” to Breukelen
(Brooklyn). Continue to Ouderkerk Aan de Amstel and follow the Amstel
River to Amsterdam.
